Purple-crested Turacos

Two of my Purple-crested (Webmaster)

03/01/04 Jos Custers from Netherlands writes about his Purple-crested:

I have bred Purple-crested for the last 3 years, all hand-reared. 3 pairs would not breed but laid like chickens! The adults were wild birds from Mozambique. This is a very nice species; not aggressive, beautiful, a lovely call and the young are tame. The first year one hen laid 21 eggs. In 2002, I had 9 youngsters from one pair. Last year, I had only one breeding pair, 3 clutches and 3 young birds. The last clutch were raised by the parents but they left the chicks and they died at the age of 14 days.
